A 2018 view of an amazing 90 minute Christmas Steam Train Journey, which was a spectacular illuminated journey which started at Queen’s Park Station, Paignton in Torbay, South Devon, where the Train with vintage carriages were decorated with thousands of lights. Fifteen minutes later the Train arrived at Churston Station, where the dazzling show began. The passengers were propelled through the 450 metre technicolour Greenway Tunnel that lead us to the colourful enchanted Forest, which was transformed by a multitude of lights and feature displays into a nocturnal extravaganza, until the arrival at the twinkling lights of Dartmouth, reflected on the river Dart. After a quick turnaround at Kingswear we returned to Paignton to experience the spectacle from a different direction. The evening was arranged by Dartmouth Steam Railway (Dart Valley Railway), English Riviera, Devon.
Torbay is a borough in Devon, England, administered by the unitary authority of Torbay Council. Torbay consists of three small coastal towns, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, located around an east facing natural harbour on the English Channel. A popular tourist destination with a tight conurbation of resort towns, Torbay's sandy beaches, mild climate and recreational and leisure attractions have given rise to the nickname of the ‘English Riviera’.
The three towns have become connected over the years, swallowing up villages and towns such as St' Marychurch, Cockington, Churston Ferrers and Galmpton. The borough of Torbay is bordered by the South Hams to the south and west and by Teignbridge to the north. Nearby towns include Totnes and Dartmouth in the South Hams and Newton Abbot and Teignmouth in Teignbridge.
